Tomboy home Renovation – Boys’ Room

The before photo of the “boy” room. This is before we closed on the home so it still has the previous owner’s property (minus the boy).

The renovation is still in the planning stages.  We have been down to the cape a few times to take photos and measurements.  My husband has met with many subcontractors about the foundation repairs, chimney, paint, windows, plumbing, etc.  I have been busy designing and picking out the things we need.  My main focus has been on the kitchen and bathrooms, which are still being worked out (photos and design ideas coming soon).  But I have also I have been scheming the design for the boys’ room we have in the house.  The room has the wood walls that we are painting white.  I am planning on one set of bunk beds.  The room has a small closet, so I will place a dresser in the room as well.  I decided when I first started this renovation I wanted to keep the rooms uniform with the furniture, almost like twin rooms but boy and girl separated by a bathroom.  Then bring in fabric and decor which would create each room’s own personality.  Below are some of the ideas and decor I am planning on using.

This bunk bed from IKEA will be painted white – the same as the walls.
Place this trunk at the bottom of the bed bunk for extra blankets or treasures from the beach.
One option for a dresser for this room from IKEA. Simple and white. I especially like the glass detail for display items or books.
Great stool that could serve as a bed side table or extra seating.
I like these two quilts from Serena and Lily.

Pottery barn kids has some great lamp and mix and match shades that are easy to imagine working in this room.

My little guy requested that he have some shelves in his room to put his rocks and shells he finds on the beach. A couple of these would look great with a huge map behind them.

Lastly, the previous owner, Bunny, generously left some furniture behind for us.  I love this chair in the right corner and saw great potential. L1080048 Maybe with one of these Peter Dunham fabrics on the seat and back.Tangiers+Indigo Starstruck+Green
