TomBoy Home Renovation – Living and Dining Room

Three inspiration photos

As week 4 rolls around DSC_0371work continues in the kitchen and bathrooms.  The painter is priming most of the walls.  The main work continues outside on taking down the siding for repair on the foundation.  They have found a lot of rot under the siding.  For now we were just going to reside the front of the house in cedar shingles but now it looks like we may have to check everywhere for rot damage.  I am going to do a post next week on the exterior work and plans for the house, so more at that point.

The way our house is laid out there are two bedrooms on one end of the house and one bedroom and the kitchen on the other side of the house. In the middle is a the living room and where we will also be dining. The room has 2 large sliding glass doors on the back side leading to the patio and a fireplace, window and front door on the other side. The window looks out to a pond across the street.

In this part of the house there are a couple of things that had to happen.  One, we need a place to eat and secondly, we need a sitting area.  The room is large enough for both to happen in designated places.

This is a the sitting and tv area. We are going to put in a sectional and a chair, side tables, ottoman, etc. I asked to keep those two lamp tables. They are made out of bamboo. I will replace the lamp shades.
This is the place cleared out. You can see the length of the slider here again. Someday french doors or french sliders will be there.
This is the dining area. I am going to put in a 60 inch table here with a bench on one side and 4 chairs.  (We had those chairs growing up)
This is the living room space with the two sliding glass doors behind.  I fell in love with these chairs.  Trying to find some fabric to reupholster each one.
The back side of the house shows the length of the living and dining area. The third slider on the end is the kitchen.  Wouldn’t these be great as french doors?  Or maybe connect the two with a row of french sliders.  My poor husband.

Here are some of ideas for the living and dining area.  The couch is from Ikea is will be a little darker.

I like these throw pillows for the chairs as accents.

IKEA side table
Serena and Lily side table
grass cloth side table
Cute small chair from IKEA for the kids.
Another possible accent chair for more seating options.
Serena and Lily side chair for the dining table
West Elm table and bench.
This is the pendant I got from Palachek lighting. I love the shape and texture. I really hope it works in the room…

I love this photo above from Serena and Lily.  The gallery art wall has so many types of art, colors and varying frames but works without looking like a mess.  We have two large walls I need to find either large pieces of art or do gallery walls.  This is a good inspiration photo.
